TALK TO THE EXPERTS
Let the experts at Rasmussen Mechanical handle your make-up air unit replacement or new installation. Our team evaluates your commercial or industrial facility to determine whether a new MAU installation will improve performance, comfort, and energy efficiency. We carefully assess the flow rate of the make-up air to make sure it matches the exhaust rate, preventing negative pressure that can affect building ventilation. A high-quality filter box (ideally MERV 10 or 11) is recommended to maintain optimal indoor air quality in your workspace. In the cold winter climate of Sioux City and surrounding areas, installing a duct heater for the make-up air is essential to warm incoming air before it enters your facility, protecting your equipment and maintaining a comfortable environment. Units must be automatically controlled to start simultaneously with the exhaust system and include a motorized damper for closure when not in use, supporting energy savings and system efficiency. Our knowledgeable technicians bring extensive industry experience to every project, providing tailored make-up air unit installation options that comply with local codes and mechanical standards. Trust Rasmussen Mechanical to deliver professional service that saves you money and time while enhancing your building's ventilation system.

SIOUX CITY MAKE-UP AIR UNIT INSTALLATION FAQ
Can you install direct-fired make-up air units?
Yes. Direct-fired make-up air units deliver a steady flow of fresh, tempered air, significantly improving indoor air quality and supporting proper ventilation. Our commercial HVAC services include expert installation, maintenance, and repair of direct-fired make-up air units, so your business operates efficiently and meets all safety standards. Whether your facility is in South Sioux City, Sioux Falls, or the surrounding area, our skilled technicians are trained to handle the complexities of these units. As your one-stop shop for commercial HVAC needs, we help you maintain a comfortable, compliant, and productive workspace.
Why hire a professional for MAU installation?
Hiring a licensed HVAC contractor is crucial for make-up air unit installation in commercial properties. Installing a make-up air unit in Sioux City involves understanding local codes and permits for any mechanical installation that alters or adds to a structure's HVAC system. When done right, proper installation of make-up air units can improve energy efficiency and indoor air quality. When done incorrectly, you can increase energy usage by pumping more air than is needed into the space. Thermostats and zoning systems are also important for temperature control and energy savings in large buildings.
Is make-up air unit maintenance important?
Commercial HVAC systems, including heating equipment, require maintenance for proper daily operation. Evaluating existing systems is a key part of the installation and maintenance process. Regular maintenance of make-up air units is necessary to catch minor issues before they become costly repairs. We are committed to providing cost-effective solutions and back our work with a guarantee of quality service. Routine maintenance, including cleaning evaporator and heating coils, inspecting heating equipment and furnaces, and following a maintenance plan, prolongs system lifespan, reduces costs, and keeps performance at its best. We focus exclusively on commercial and industrial projects, which lets us be the experts in that work.
How do I know if my building needs a make-up air unit?
If doors in your building are hard to open, drafts are present, temperatures are inconsistent, or exhaust systems overpower your HVAC, your building may be under negative pressure. Many commercial kitchens, warehouses, and facilities with high exhaust rates require a make-up air unit to restore proper airflow balance. Proper make-up air unit installation in Sioux City is essential to maintain a comfortable and energy-efficient business environment. Our experienced team has the knowledge and expertise to recommend the right model and system for your specific needs. For additional convenience, we also offer financing options to help you manage the cost of installation. Call us today at 712-252-4613 to discuss how we can improve the air quality and ventilation in your commercial or industrial facility.

MAKE-UP AIR UNIT INSTALLATION PROCESS
Installation requirements vary by unit type and facility, but common steps include:
- System evaluation and appropriate unit sizing.
- Site preparation and removal of existing equipment.
- Proper placement of the MAU on a foundation or structure.
- Installation of gas, electrical, and ductwork connections, including ductwork in challenging locations and proper sealing to improve airflow and energy efficiency.
- System startup, testing, and airflow balancing, with a focus on automatic controls and motorized dampers so the unit operates in sync with the exhaust system and closes when not in use.
After installation, it is important to evaluate the system and schedule routine maintenance to catch minor issues before they become costly repairs.
