Chiller Plant Expansion

As the Mercy Medical Center grew, their need for a dependable, responsive, an innovative mechanical system became their priority. They could not keep up with cooling loads and they did not have the proper emergency response systems in place. To satisfy this need, RMS was hired as the prime contractor to design and install a new chiller plant, diesel generator, building automation, and emergency response system. The renovation was completed in 2011 and RMS provides services to the Mercy Medical Center to this Day.

• 6 months of design and 8 months of construction.

• The chiller plant was located off-site and needed a tunnel to supply chilled water to the Med Center.

• Innovative emergency control system installed to detect refrigerant leaks in the building.

• Honeywell Spider Controls were installed on existing mechanical equipment.
